Presentation time

Presentations, preparation for presentation and presentation time

The presentation itself is professionally expressed as a performance, a tour of something, a topic, a product, etc. From the business point of view, the presentation is eg. presenting a security, e.g. filing records, from military point of view eg. receiving conscripts into the army.

However, we are interested in this professional aspect – that is, presentation as a presentation of their work, whether seminar or semester before the classmates’ plenum, or presenting their final thesis (bachelor’s, diploma, etc.) as a form of defense of their work for a professional commission.

The title of the presentation is based on the word present, ie appearing, manifesting, showing, reporting, confirming (your presence) and so on. It is not easy to present yourself properly, and you need to train it, especially if you are not used to public performance. You are at the center of attention, representing your work, achievements, conclusions. While you are presenting, you are not only ranked by what you say, but also how you say it, how you stand, how you are presenting clothes, how you look, and gestures. lack of preparation for presentation and lack of experience.

In order to successfully handle the presentation and not to disgust or fail your audience, you really need to prepare carefully. So what do you need to know to start a presentation?

It is necessary to clarify what is the subject and purpose of the presentation. We understand the subject as a product, service, person or company, but also as knowledge, knowledge, information or opinion. In your case it will be a presentation of your product – your work. The purpose of the presentation is to inform, acquaint, show, convince, teach, train (mostly multiple). Another point to be aware of is the aim of your presentation – the aim of the presentation is practically always a well-received presentation. To convince the audience that you know what you are saying.

The presentation may be influenced by the time it takes: breakfast, early morning, morning, early afternoon, late afternoon, evening. How long then to present? The short duration of the presentation may be positive. The duration of the presentation needs to be adapted to the subject and purpose of the presentation, but especially to the listener. It is recommended that the presentation be brief, dense, logical. She used the “KISS” principle, Keep It Short and Simple. It is advisable to narrow and restrict the content of the presentation as needed.

It is not a matter of spelling out the audience, especially WHY they will participate in the presentation, whether from the duty or from the interest, WHAT are the listeners, or familiar with the issue, WHEN they will be, who will specifically be at the presentation.

An overview of audience demographic data is crucial, you should know their age, gender, standard of living, level of education and knowledge, their knowledge, experience, maybe their problems, their needs, etc. So it is necessary to ask others, friends, colleagues, other participants, to look at agendas from past presentations, to do some research, or to catch a brief interview with the audience before the presentation itself.

Also see the size of the room where the presentation will take place, the arrangement of the furniture and equipment, the location and functionality of the technique, the number of seats, try the presentation (at least the beginning and the end), think about the risk scenario, prepare your room to suit you .

Remember – good preparation is sometimes more than the content itself. Don’t forget to have a good night’s sleep before taking a presentation, take a shower, eat some nutritious food, have a drink. Especially – relax, and pay attention to the parts of the job that you are best oriented to.

Presentation as a Lecturer

Presentations are a very suitable means when the author wants to describe the issue in a simple way. Basically it is a summary of the work (lectures or paper), when as supporting points are shown in individual slides. It is basically a tool especially for the lecturer, but also the listener has the opportunity to orientate in the lectured topic, especially in the categorization of the lectured topic. Namely, in a presentation, it is clearly marked when a new area of a lectured topic begins.

The presentation serves both as a guide for the lecturer as a basis for the topic, but if a slide show is used, the lecturer also helps to keep the time limit in order to deal with the topic at a time that will not be at the expense of other topics. problems.

When creating a presentation, it is necessary to pay attention to the appropriate coloring of the presented pictures. It is not advisable to include a large variety of colors that might be distracting, but even a monotonous display will not attract enough interest and attention.

Another area that needs attention is the need to choose the right font size. Because only essential things are written in the presentation, it is possible to use a smaller number of characters that will be large and clear enough for all participants in the presentation.
